Book Clubs Daily Procedure Focus In! Choose a group-wide “Focus Question” from your “Questions and Thinking Across a Story” to guide your reading and tracking for the day. Prepare and Organize! Set up a fresh page in your Reading Notebook with the Focus Question and date at the top. Track and Gather! Read independently for at least 30 minutes using post-its or notebook jots to track your thinking in response to your Focus Question. Remember to include page numbers! Synthesize and Reflect! Add your post-its to your notebook page, read over the evidence you collected, and find the one or two big ideas you developed in response to the focus question. Talk Time! After you have looked over your evidence and have formed a big idea about your focus question, you will have a few minutes to check in with your group to discuss your ideas.
